Social Organization of Higher Education and Science
This aspect of our work is currently being carried out by Laboratory Research workers through their individual projects. According to Laboratory plans, team research on this issue will also be organized.
  • Project “Science: Russian versus International” (project supervisor Daniel Alexandrov).

  • This is a complex research project covering a wide range of problems connected with the status of Russian science in an international context. It focuses on two major goals: the analysis of Russian social science studies and international science projects. In pursuing the first goal, bibliometrical research is being carried out; the extent to which Russian scientists quote international scientific literature will be evaluated. The second part involves extensive research into sociology and international corruption in science. The INTAS database project (1992-2006, consisting of more than three thousand team projects sponsored by the Program, in which over 18 thousand research groups were engaged) has already been received. At present the database is being checked and edited.

  • Research work by Mikhail Sokolov, who is working on the analysis of the intellectual efficiency of social sciences and their intellectual determinants, is part of the project. Current networks of social scientists and science-research institutes and organizations are being examined as an example of Russian sociology and material from St. Petersburg sociology circles.

  • Kirill Titaev’s research is devoted to the study of the institutional system of Russian higher educational establishments and informal economics.
