Projects and Topics

Migration studies in the Laboratory are the main topic, we mostly focus on integration of migrant children using predominantely quantitative methods and network analysis. Internet studies are also one of the branches of this department.

In this topic we study practices and standards in studies and research (including activity in the sphere of publication and presentation of research results); personal and inter-organizational research networks in social sciences; international cooperation in science (funding, networks, division of labor etc.) as well as informal economics in higher education.

The researchers focus on life trajectories determined at school, analysis of the local educational system (kindergarten, school, special schools and boarding schools), dynamics and reproduction of social inequality at early stages in the education system (from kindergarten to school, from the 9th - 10th grade, evening school etc.)

In poverty studies our scholars study methods of social support to poor people and families with children. Dynamics of poor children academic achievements and everyday practices are also of interest.
